We are so excited to be able to bring Alfonso's coffee back into our offerings, for the second year in a row. I had the pleasure of visiting his farm back in 2019, and was not only impressed by how passionate he was about his farm and the coffee he was growing. I was smitten by how genuinely kind and welcoming he was. In the cup you can expect a crème brûlèe sweetness and ripe mango brightness as it cools, with a lingering cherry cola aftertaste.
Alfonzo Cordova Saldaña owns a 2-hectare farm called La Montaña, where he grows Caturra variety coffee under a cover of shade trees. Like many of his fellow members of the cooperative Lima Coffees, Alfonso holds organic certification for his farm. The coffee on La Montaña is picked ripe and depulped either the same or the following day, then given an open-air fermentation in tanks for about 30 hours. It's washed three times and then dried for about 15–25 days.
